Obama Thinks Internet Users are Stoners

Former marijuana user Barack Obama spoke in his first live video chat to the American audience last week and answered user generated questions to ” open up the White House to the American people”. Over 90,000 Americans submitted questions for the President to answer and by far the most popular was whether marijuana should be legalized and used to “strengthen the economy”. This was the president’s response.
“There was one question that was voted on that ranked fairly high and that was whether legalizing marijuana would improve the economy and job creation, and I don’t know what this says about the online audience,” he laughed.
“The answer is no, I don’t think that [is] a good strategy.”
It’s obvious he turned this question into a joke and mocked the premise as misguided; this is interesting considering Obama’s previous stance on the decriminalization of marijuana.
He is being slammed in the media on it.
Alternet responds with their usual rancor on this issue
Not just pro-legalization avenues like Alternet disagree with the President’s stance. The Boston Herald says the president is wrong on this issue.
Bill Maher with guests Mos Def and Salman Rushdie found the president’s response infuriating and tepid in its character.
Even the usually pro Obama Huffington Post slams Obama on the response
