the dope report

Kid Cudi's 'Man on the Moon ...' worth the hype?

Sigh. Yes.
his 2008 single “Day N Nite” was an Internet smash. His full-length debut is an ambitious five-act journey that moves in “slow mo, when the tempo slows up and creates that new new,” as Cudi raps. At its best, “Man on the Moon: The End of Day” (Universal Motown) is the “new new,” a record built more for headphone listening than nightclubbing, an interior monologue built on a foundation of ghost-in-the-machine beats, Gothic keyboards and melancholy strings.
