Arturo Leyva aka "The Boss of Bosses" is killed by the Mexican Navy

This could have been a scene straight out of Steven Soderbergh’s movie Traffic. The NY Times is reporting that one of the most notorious Mexican cartel kingpins was killed last night by Mexican Navy forces in a brutal shootout that took place in an upscale apartment complex in Cuernavaca.
Over 200 sailors were involved in the slaying of Arturo Bertran Leyva, one of the 24 most wanted men by the US and a key figure in the importation of cocaine into the States.

As they readied themselves for the attack, sailors quietly evacuated civilians from the complex into the gym and commenced the shootout. Grenades were launched by Cartel gunmen in a desperate attempt to save their lives but only three navy officers were injured, while the other three other kingpins who were inside died during the massacre with the last one committing suicide.

This is a major event for US/Mexican authorities as the last time they killed a major drug lord was in 2002, when Ramon Arellano Felix of the Tijuana Cartel was shot down by a Mexican police officer.
