Shady California Priest Busted with Guns, Meth, GHB

Selling meth and possessing guns and date-rape drug GHB usually constitutes just another day in paradise for denizens of the Inland Empire of California, but when the monstrous drug fiend is defrocked Roman Catholic Priest and head of a local church: that’s divine.

Anthony Martinez Garduno, 54, a self-proclaimed Catholic bishop, pleaded guilty to drug, and gun possession early January amid an investigation into allegations that he sexually assaulted underage males at Our Lady of Tepeyac Church. The Times’ Robert J. Lopez reports the Catholic church tried Garduno for heresy and defrocked him in 1993. He then formed his own church in Home Garden, an unincorporated area of Riverside County. He caught the attention of the Riverside County Sheriff’s after he suspectedly got into a gun fight last September and took a bullet defending his Church’s meth turf. Abuse allegations followed.

“Pastor Tony” now sits in the same jail as the meth heads who shot him. He’ll be sentenced in March to up to four years in prison, though the judge can reduce his sentence for time served living in an unincorporated area of Riverside County.

Rancho Cucamonga, ya’ll. [LAT]
